CHAIRMAN'S AUTUMN BULLETIN 2020
1 September 2020
I hope you are all keeping well and safe and looking forward to being able to meet up again
As usual I will start the Bulletin with a mention of the birds, homes and gardens. Yes, the birds are still visiting and eating us out of house and home. Our resident blackbird empties the bird bath at least once a day and defends it against all comers. We have set up another bath for the other birds which has confused him. House and garden have both been pampered and are looking good.
The East of England Area will meet again for the first time in March 2021. A Council Meeting and EGM will be held in the Jubilee Centre, Mildenhall, on Wednesday 17th March. An Agenda will be forwarded to all the Clubs in January 2021. I hope all the Club Delegates will feel able to attend. This will be an important meeting as it will be so long since we have been able to hold Council, and there will be much to discuss.
The Area Executive Committee have held virtual meetings and have sent out updates from HQ as they have come in. We will continue to hold virtual meetings until we can, at last, meet in the flesh.
I know that many of you have held Committee Meetings either in your gardens or via Zoom, and have been keeping in contact with your members. It is hoped that when you are able to meet up again you will still keep all your members and continue with the events that have had to come to a stop this year.
There will be a Spring Area Day to be held on Saturday 24th April 2021, the venue will be Needham Market Community Centre. There will be stalls and the day will start as usual with coffee and biscuits at 10 am. We will have a Speaker in the morning and a Demonstration in the afternoon. This, I am sure, will be a super day.
President’s Day will be held in October 2021. There will be further information at a later date.
I would be very much obliged if you would let me know how you are all getting on and if you are planning any Club meetings this year or are waiting until 2021.
This has been the most difficult year I have ever lived through and I am sure it will have been the same for most of you. On a positive note, I am looking forward to the future with optimism. To get back to the flowery world we all enjoy so much, with the fun and friendship it brings will be wonderful.
This will be my last Bulletin as Chairman. I leave you with my love and very best wishes.
