The East of England J.D.S & E was formed in 1968 to take on the responsibility for the Training and Accreditation of Area Judges, Demonstrators and Speakers. Once qualified these members are in great demand not only in our own Area but in other Areas of NAFAS and also often visit other clubs and organisations. Our Area Judges are in great demand for the judging of Floral Art sections at Horticultural as well as village and larger county shows.
Demonstrators are the very core of the Flower Club’s monthly meeting and members keenly await newly qualified members. Speakers are always an interesting alternative to a monthly meeting, so again Speakers can find themselves much in demand at a wide range of organisations and venues.
The Area offers regular opportunities for Training and Trainees pay a contribution towards the cost
of their training. Once qualified they benefit from being listed in the Area List of Accredited Judges, Demonstrators, Speakers and Teachers circulated to all clubs. They are also eligible to go on to take
a National Qualification in their chosen discipline once they have held their Area Qualification for two years.
Regular Refresher days are held for all of the disciplines, so that everyone may be kept up to date with current trends in floral design. Our Demonstrators, Speakers, Judges and Teachers meet to discuss changes and presentation.
Whilst Teachers come under the umbrella of the J.D.S & E they undertake to obtain their own external training and accredited qualifications. Many clubs arrange tutoring and practice classes and here the services of a qualified teacher can be invaluable.
